Canva is a graphic design platform that creates visual resources for social media, presentations, posters, logos, CVs, videos and many more. There are several professional templates to choose from, which you can quickly adapt to your needs. They will help you come up with fantastic designs in no time.
Installing the Sessions app
If it’s the first time you use Canva in Sessions, follow these steps:
- Go to Home → Tools → Canva.
- Click on New Canva → Get plugin.
- Log in to Canva if asked.
- Go to Discover apps.
- Type in “Sessions”.
- Click on the Sessions icon.
- Select whether you want to use the Sessions extension for a new design or an existing one.
- You’ll be redirected to a Canva design. Click on Share (upper right corner).
- Click on the Sessions icon.
- Save.
- You’ll be notified that your design has been saved in Sessions. Choose if you want to see it in Sessions or continue editing. In Sessions, you’ll find the design in Home → Tools → Canva.
Exporting Canva designs:
- Open the Canva designs you want to export to Sessions.
- Click on Share (upper right corner).
- Select the Sessions icon.
- Save.
- You’ll be notified that your design has been saved in Sessions. Choose if you want to see it in Sessions or continue editing.
- In Sessions, you’ll find the design in Home → Tools → Canva.
How to embed a Canva design during a live session (no agenda):
- Press
Ctrl + K
/Command + K (iOS users)
or click on the Share button (bottom left corner). - If the Canva design has been previously exported, type in its name in the input box. If not, type in “Canva”.
- Click on Canva.
- Choose one of the recently used Canva designs listed there or click on Open Canva.
- You’ll be redirected to try out the Sessions plugin. Follow the instructions listed under Installing the Sessions plugin and then Exporting Canva designs.
❌ To remove a Canva design and return to standard conference mode, hover over the button showing the name of your design (bottom left corner). Click Remove file.
Alternative: Click Alt + R
/ Option + R (iOS users)
How to add a Canva design to an agenda item (during a live session):
If you have an agenda already embedded in the live meeting and you want to include a Canva design, this is how you can do it:
- Press
Alt + Z
/Option + Z
or hover over the button named after your current agenda item (bottom left corner) and click on Edit agenda. - Click on ➕ to add a new agenda item.
- Click on the Share button on the new agenda item.
- If the Canva design has been previously exported to Sessions, type in its name in the input box.
If not, type in “Canva” or click on Embed a tool → Canva.
- Choose one of the recently used Canva designs or click on Open Canva.
- You’ll be redirected to try out the Sessions plugin. Follow the instructions listed under Installing the Sessions plugin and Exporting Canva designs.
❌ To remove the tool, file or link you've attached to an agenda item, follow these steps:
- Press
Alt + Z
/Option + Z
or hover over the button named after your current agenda item (bottom left corner). - Click on Edit agenda (
Alt + Z
/Option + Z
). - Click on the ⊖ button next to the tool/file/link you want to remove.
How to add a Canva design to an agenda template (before a session starts):
- Go to Sessions Home → Agendas.
- Click on New agenda.
- Click on the Share button that's attributed to an agenda item.
- If the design has been previously exported to Sessions, type in its name in the input box. If not, type in “Canva”.
- Click on Canva.
- Choose one of the recently exported frames or click on Open Canva.
- You’ll be redirected to try out the Sessions plugin.
- Follow the instructions listed under Installing the Sessions plugin and Exporting Canva designs.
- The Canva icon will appear on the left side of your agenda item, under time settings.
- Done. Changes are automatically saved.
❌ To remove the tool, file or link from an agenda item, click on Remove tool or check that agenda item's box and then click on Remove tool.
